RBI rules: read the RBI guidelines on loan settlement and recovery
  • Already in force: lenders and recovery agents must not call you for overdue loans before 8 AM or after 7 PM
  • Credit report correction not done within 30 days of your complaint? You get ₹100 for each day of delay
  • Recovery agents must not threaten, humiliate or harass you, your relatives, friends or co-workers
  • From 1 Jan 2027, banks must also tell you the recovery agency’s details at least one day before its first visit
  • From 1 Jan 2027, banks must list their recovery agencies on their website
  • Lenders agree settlements under their own Board-approved policy; it is not an automatic right
  • After a compromise settlement, lenders wait at least 12 months before lending to you again (non-farm loans)
  • No reply from your bank in 30 days, or unhappy with it? You can complain to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in

What happens after you contact us

  1. We call or message you back. We use the number you gave us. We will not ask for your OTP, passwords, PIN or full card number.
  2. We ask a few simple questions. Which lenders you owe, roughly how much, how many EMIs you have missed, and your monthly income and costs.
  3. We explain your options. These may include asking for a lower EMI, a payment plan, restructuring, or a one-time loan settlement. We also tell you the risks, like the effect on your credit report.
  4. We explain our fees. Fees depend on your case. We tell you clearly before you decide.
  5. You decide. You can say no or take time to think. There is no pressure.

What to keep ready

It helps if you have these when we talk. Do not worry if you do not have all of them.

  • Names of your lenders and the type of loan or card
  • Rough outstanding amount for each
  • Your EMI amounts and how many you have missed
  • Any letters, SMS, emails or notices from the lender or its agents
  • Your monthly take-home income and main expenses

Please do not send account numbers, card numbers, Aadhaar or bank passwords by WhatsApp or the form. If we need a document later, we will tell you a safe way to share it.

Recovery calls aa rahe hain? If you are getting them right now

  • Note the date, time and number of every call.
  • Save messages and screenshots.
  • RBI rules say recovery agents should not call you before 8 AM or after 7 PM, and must not threaten or abuse you. (RBI circular, 12 Aug 2022)
  • If you are threatened with violence, contact the police at 112.
  • Read: Your rights against recovery pressure

If you received a legal notice

Do not ignore it. Notices often have a time limit. We can explain in plain words what the notice says and what options you may have with the lender. For legal advice or a reply to the notice, see the note at the end of this page.

A few things we will always tell you

  • We are a consultancy. We are not your bank, an NBFC, or a recovery agency.
  • The lender alone decides whether to settle, and for how much.
  • Never pay settlement money to us or to anyone's personal account. Pay only into your lender's official account, after you get the offer in writing.

Complaints about us

If you are unhappy with how we handled your enquiry or case, please email support@debtsupportexpert.com with the subject "Complaint". Tell us your name, phone number and what went wrong. We will acknowledge it and reply in writing.

Can you stop recovery calls? No one can promise that. We can explain your rights and help you complain to the lender and, if needed, the RBI Ombudsman.
